This week has seen the children fully engaged in Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. The children have been learning how to do a basic Pepeha, and a few children have said them daily over zoom meetings.
Every day we say or sing the school Karakia. The children from room 7 are now confident singing the days of the week and asking each other what the day of the week was. It was also neat to teach them how to ask how you are and reply in Te Reo Maori. I would set them challenges of looking around the house for items of a certain colour that were called out in Te Reo. They had fun doing this and trying to remember the colors. They also enjoyed doing the quiz online and seeing how many they can get correct. It has been great seeing the children showing their willingness to have a go at speaking Te Reo Maori.
