Reflective lockdown and Fun learning.

The children in room 7 were given the task to do reflection on lockdown and the things they miss. Across the board children like most of us all missed seeing their friends and family.I think if you ask everyone it will be the same answer.

The children have also really enjoyed using the distance learning packs. They do independent activities and it is so nice to be able to read together from the  books that were inside.  I know the children really enjoy having a real book to read.

Some of the children have tried and done some of the activities  for Chinese language week. Kody drew a zodiac sign, and made a fan while in bubble class at school. A few of the children tried and did some origami.

They are really enjoying the variety of activities that they can choose from. Take a look at some of the other cool activities they have been doing.  Gardening, Making paper chains, lego, and painting.

Lockdown stories

As a writing activity the children were asked to create a lockdown story. They had free choice on how they presented this story. There were to include activities that they had done over the time. Their work, zooms, creative learning activites were included and family time. It was great to see some of them from students who have finished this activity. Others are still working on them. They look amazing and I am super proud of the work they have done.  Room 7 have such an amazing variety of presentaions.

Pepeha

This week has seen the children fully engaged in Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. The children have been learning how to do a basic Pepeha, and  a few children have said them daily over zoom meetings.
Every day we say or sing  the school Karakia.   The children from room 7 are now confident  singing the days of the week and asking each other  what the day of the week was.  It was also neat to teach them  how to ask how you are and reply in Te Reo Maori. I would set them challenges of looking around the house for items  of a certain colour that were called out in Te Reo.  They had fun doing this and trying to remember the colors. They also enjoyed doing the quiz online and seeing how many they can get correct. It has been great seeing the children showing their  willingness  to have a go at speaking Te Reo Maori.

Layla's Party Popper

A challenge was set on a device free day to some creative learning while having fun. Layla chose an activity from the slides and decided on a Party Popper.  She had everything that was needed to assemble the popper. She gathered it all first on the table  and then constructed the popper.  You can see by the joy on her face how much fun that she had doing the activity.  Maybe you  could give it a try if you have all the things you need at home.

Rishi's Solar system

Rishi loves learning about the solar system and the planets. During lockdown he did some research about them. He spent a long time drawing them and cutting them out  with the help of his dad. Rishi then painted them all the right colours and put them all in order. Once he finished he wrote a story about the planets.

Kai Pai Rishi for doing a great learning activity.  So many learning opportunityes and skills involved in doing creative this activity.

Amazing lockdown learning

The children of room 7 continue to learn in a variety of ways. As well as attending zooms daily, doing reading, writing and maths. They find many other ways to learn a variety of things.

We have children making and creating things for father's day, trying to make bouncy eggs. Create things with lego, getting their exercise in,  slime making, puzzles and doing origami. There are so many ways that children learn.  Let them get creative and watch the learning happen.  Super awesome work room 7.
